Five Generations

This visual sociology project examines the Australian experience through the lens of a single family's home movies spanning five generations. From the post-WWII migration to contemporary life, the work traces the interplay between enduring traditions and the transformative forces of technology, fashion, and cultural change. Shot across 8mm, video, and digital formats, the project offers a nuanced exploration of memory, identity, and continuity. It reveals how the past is both preserved and reinterpreted, illustrating that cultural connection remains vital, evolving, and distinctly Australian in an increasingly secular, globalised and capitalist world. 38mins.

This project has Screened at The Lygon Street Festa 2014, Federation Square, City Library, Diaspore Italiane Conference New York (2019) Museo Italiano, Melbourne.
