NOBS & SOBS

A snapshot of Brunswick and Fawkner

Do you live North of Bell Street or South of Bell Street? In the City of Moreland, in Melbourne's North, the arterial has become a kind of internal border. Those from the hipper, better resourced inner suburb of Brunswick seem to be the beneficiaries of the City's desire to present as cosmopolitan. But in Fawkner, greater diversity has been accompanied with the label of 'high risk'.

We investigated and found two distinct communities in the one city dealing with the challenges of cultural change and stereotyped identities.

This project would not have happened without additional support from:

  • Brunswick Historical Society

  • Fawkner Community House

  • City of Moreland

  • Sydney Road Street Traders

  • Save Brunswick Alliance

  • Bonswick Street Traders

  • Anderson Road Traders
